How to ensure the safety of your sauna

How to ensure the safety of your sauna

In addition to the comfort of the sauna, it is also important to us that it is safe to use. With adequate lighting, reduced consumption the use of durable materials, the sizing of the decks and the use of safety products, heater rails and risers can ensure that sauna bathing takes place in safe conditions.

Compliance with heater-specific safety distances is a very important fire safety factor. When designing a sauna, the safety distances should not be neglected under any circumstances. The safety distances must be checked whenever a heater is replaced by a different model during renovation. At Sun Sauna, safety considerations and compliance with safety distances are a natural part of high-quality and responsible sauna design. Fire protection and safety distances are checked with the heater manufacturers, as they vary depending on the heater model.

Electrical equipment installed in the sauna, such as projectors for fibre optic lighting, must meet the requirements for enclosure and protection. The installation of sockets in the sauna is prohibited. Lighting control equipment must also be installed outside the sauna room as a general rule.

Reducing the risk of burns with heater rails

In addition to fire safety, the safety of sauna users must also be taken into account. Especially in families with children and senior citizens’ homes, the importance of sauna safety features is highlighted. An excellent sauna can be made even more comfortable and welcoming by adding safety rails and handrails that match the sauna’s interior. Sun Sauna’s experts take safety into account when designing the ceiling by recommending safety products.

You should install guardrails around the stove to prevent tripping over the stove and other accidents that could cause burns. Sun Sauna has a range of heater guardrails for all sizes and types of stoves. Sturdy heater rails are available in U, L and round shapes. A heater railing is an essential safety accessory for saunas where there is even the slightest risk of falling on the heater. The handrail can also be made to measure for different types of stove.

The comfort of sitting on the boards is provided by a so-called footrest which also acts as a protective rail to prevent the top board from swaying. Sun Sauna’s range of skirting boards includes accessories for the most common board models, ready to be cut to size on site.

Avoid folds in the stove

In addition to burns, slips and falls are a risk for sauna users. Handrails make it easier to get on and off the benches. The heat-resistant wooden handrail is easy to install in the sauna, even afterwards.

Wet floor surfaces are often very slippery and therefore attention should be paid to the friction properties of the floor material in wet areas. Whether the sauna has a concrete, tiled or wooden floor, its safety properties can be influenced, for example, by surface treatment, texturing or different floor rollers.

A safe sauna environment, where the risk of accidents is minimised, provides the best setting for relaxation. With good design and Sun Sauna’s complementary safety products, you can ensure safe bathing moments in your own sauna.
