We recommend treating the lute with paraffin oil before use.
Paraffin oil protection of the lute
1. heat the sauna and the oil (in the microwave or in a saucepan) the warm oil will be absorbed more quickly
2. apply the oil with a foam rubber brush to both sides of the board
3. leave to soak for about 1/2 hour
4. wipe off excess oil with a lint-free rag
5. always re-treat after careful washing and drying 1-2 times a year depending on use
Use of the sauna
Avoid unnecessary rinsing of the stove with water when taking a sauna and use a cloth.
Keep the stove on for about 20 minutes after taking a sauna to dry the sauna as quickly as possible.
After the first few times you use the stove, check how long you keep it on to dry your sauna.
Underfloor heating and air conditioning will help drying but are not sufficient.
If dark spots or lumps appear on the lower bath or stool soon after use, increase the time the stove is on and lift the stool onto the lower bath after sauna.
Continued prolonged exposure to moisture will quickly darken wooden surfaces.
Washing the lute
Depending on use (at least 2 times a year), the lauderall should be washed thoroughly on both sides.
Mild detergents suitable for wooden surfaces and a soft brush or sponge can be used for washing.
The Sun Sauna lauder care package contains these products.
The lauderall is washed individually with a sponge or brush on both sides of the rall.
Usually the front edges of the lauderalls get the most dirt and should be cleaned particularly carefully.
Dilute the detergent in a bucket according to the instructions and brush the lauderalls and rails all over.
Finally, rinse the dirt removed from the laude with a brush with water to remove it from the board surfaces. The easiest way to get the dirt off is to use enough water.
The use of a pressure washer is not advisable, as a small amount of water and high pressure will not effectively remove dirt from wooden surfaces and may damage the surface.
After a thorough wash, leave the lauderalls in the sauna to dry and turn on the stove for at least an hour. After washing with detergent, the laude should be given a protective treatment, see protection with paraffin oil.
